So what is Jazz Harp? That’s the question we’ll all be discovering the answer to during our 9 Week Jazz Harp Workshop.

In our time together, I’ll be introducing some of the basic-not-so-basic concepts of Jazz and work with you on implementing them on our harps. We’ll be diving head on into “learning the language of Jazz”.

Some of the key and crucial components that we’ll be focusing on in learning the language of Jazz are listening, feeling, chords / chord changes, and transcribing.

I’ll be breaking it waaay down in a way I wish I had had it when I rolled into my very first Jazz 101 Improv class in college … with harp in tow. I will absolutely be holding your hand virtually all the way 💕

Once we nail some of these basic concepts down, you’ll be well equipped in your understanding and in time, playing of this beautiful American art form we know as Jazz.

Welcome! As Jazz Explorer Campers, we’ll be looking for key treasure in some of the major eras of Jazz. Once we find the treasure, we’ll use them to help us sing and express our songs! Some highlights of our journey include singin’ our Blues in the South, then hopping over to dip to the Big Four in New Orleans, Lindy Hop at the Savoy in Harlem, and even take an imaginary flight to Havana to Mambo to the beat of the clave!
